Stuck in Germany!

10-7-10

If you can concentrate always on the present, you'll be a happy man...Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we're living right now.

Sausages, Nutella, Gelato, Cheese….

Ahhh… I can’t get away from the food! So Delish! I am still in Nürnberg Germany. It’s been almost 2 weeks and have loved every minute! My days have consisted of getting up (sometimes at a reasonable hour), walking around the city, talking to people in broken English, and trying to enjoy the moment!

I have realized how my brain is trained to keep thinking about the future, past, worry, and whatever else besides- RIGHT NOW!

I have been training myself to enjoy each bite of yes… the sausages. To enjoy buying groceries and laugh at the funny fruit (you know the ones I’m talking about with spikes/bright colors). I get a warm fuzzy feeling passing the toy train store everyday, and it never ceases to amaze me as an old man is always nostalgically smiling into the window!

I find this hard to do sometimes, but with more practice I think I am kicking the bad habit of rushing through life always thinking of something else but the present.

But, yes I have to walk 10 feet around the sausage stands- I've been enjoying those moments a little too often!

(The pictures:

One of many amazing sausage stands with a man with an even greater beard.

The main street through Nürnberg last weekend- a run featuring orange shirt people and a bird that I didn't see until I uploaded the pic!

Me on a bench at the Nürnberg castle reading Sunday afternoon.

The view from the castle down to the city.

And Oktoberfest with Veilhelm one more time last weekend before it shut down!)

  1. Good post! It's what I've been waiting for! Contentment - ahhh - a worthy goal no matter where one is in life. Thanks for the reminder. I love you! Mom P.S. I did not receive a notification of your post. I'll check it out. Are other followers receiving notification?

  3. I love this, Kat. I've been feeling myself do that too...worry/plan about the future and get distracted from how beautiful TODAY is and how good life is NOW. I'll go in this with you and work on living more in the present also.

Mrs. Roberts- I didn't get the notification either. Strange!
